POGO, as with anything new it takes a little getting use to. However, once you get use to it, that's when the real fun begins.
MAC air are really cool as a secondary computer in my view ... can't wait till the 3G iphone, the ultimate digital device ..... just around the corner ....... based on the current information, I predict 2 months ......

A combination of a PC and a MAC would be ideal.
Funcionality with compatability.

Sure, however, before I go any further I should state this is in no way a swipe or claim that Mac's are better than PC's. Whilst I prefer and recommend Apple everything, I do it as a matter of opinion not at the expense of PC's.
It really depends on your needs, however as a standard guide, if you can afford it go for the top of the line 24-inch iMac G5. The only thing you might need to upgrade on that maybe the memory from 2GB to 4GB. Total cost $3300 Australian.
If want be be humble with your spending go for the bottom of the line 20 inch iMac G5, it will set you back around $1600 Australian.
It has almost everything you need out of the box except Microsoft Office.
If portability is your thing, depending your budget you can go top of the line Mac book Pro or bottom with the Mac book.
The Mac air is ultra cool, however, I would only recommend it as a secondary computer and if your very wealthy.
The greatest advantage of Macs besides their user friendliness and design is how well they work with other Mac products and Software. Providing the money is available you would want to consider a .mac account, Microsoft office, iLife08, Time Capsule and iTV.
Although I do admit it might be premature to purchase the latter as movie rentals and purchase through apple are not available in Australia YET.
Off course it should go without saying that ipods, ipod touches and iphone's will work smoothly with all.
