And yeah! Here's a quote from IGN's MGS4 review:
"Is it possible to give a game an 11? If so, this would be the game that would merit that score."
I do see your point Shadow Eagle (or... Tory?) but it's just that specially on a 0.1 scale if 10/10 wouldn't mean perfect then what would?
It's ambiguous because we should also take into account that you can either score a game on an entertainment value-kind of way which is preferrably more realistic than the other way which basicly looks for perfection that *might* be humanly impossible.
And since a game review is, in a way, one's personal opinion makes it even more complex!
I just try to keep in mind that nothing is perfect and everything is evolving... (Actually... I don't )

A comment like that tries to show a way of saying the game is beyond expectations of a current generation example. I don't think any score can suggest perfection, as like you mentioned in a media-based atmosphere alot of which is presented is percieved through ones opinion. All I'm trying to say is too much importance is placed on scores. You shouldn't base a purchase on whether a game gets an 8, a 9 or a 10. If you did you'd be denying yourself an opportunity to experience many achievements in digital entertainment.
By the way - its pleasing to have someone willing to have an intellegent discussion, without resorting to flaming or an overly biased attitude.
And yes, its Tory.

The scoring system is pure opinion.
Someone could rate SF:IV 9/10 but then a non-fighter fan might give it a 6/10.
NO game (movie, book, song etc) should be given a perfect.
MGS4 wasn't perfect.
10/10 just means that, that person believed it to be a must play/experience/buy.
If a game recives a 10/10 what would it rate 3 months later? 1 year? 10 years?
Games are like ever other form of media. interpreted differently by each individual. If you don't like the genre then can you still score it unbiased?
They're just a rough indication. The difference between a 3/10 and an 8/10 is far more significant than 9/10 vs. 10/10.

Exactly. As long as there are no misconceptions about a score of 10 meaning "perfect".
