| | I thought PSblog and Katuko or whatever said OPM UK gave KZ2 a perfect score ie. 110/10? |
US OPM: 10/10
UK: 9/10
And the first online review was: 9.9/10

There's no game that should merit 10/10 on a .1 degree!

Then there would be no point in having a score of ten if its never used
besides 9 just sounds crummy, if it gets a ten then you know its good

People worry too much about numeration and not enough about innovation. Try judging the game on the written review, rather than the attached number.

cbb reading a review that will tell me stuff i've already heard or spoil more. I've made the mistake of reading too much about games before and then being disappointed so i've been reading less about KZ2.
for a quick reference and indication that the game is on the right track a score will do for me.

I'm just saying - a score will be an indication of that persons opinion of the game, but you can only get an explanation why if you read what has been written.
But I understand what you mean about spoilers.

I think there is a common misconception on the use of the "10/10" score. People believe it to suggest the game is perfect, which can be seen to be unattainable. However, a 10/10 score should suggest excellence. Not necessarily perfection.
Or in laymans terms, a "must buy".

But if you rate a game 10/10 and then you realize that the next game you just played was even better... What do you do? That's exactly what happened with GTAIV I believe. Like IGN.com gave it 10 and then MGS4 got 10 also and after all they gave the GOTY award to Fallout 3 which received 9.6! And remember the games are rated on a 1-10 scale which should mean that 5 is still avarage and 6 or 7 even worth buying!

While I don't believe GTA IV deserved a 10/10 based on my opinion, if you have a look at the criteria that they base the numerical value, its easy to see how it could get that score. Its difficult to score a game based on 'atmosphere' or 'enjoyment' levels. Its done on technical aspects more so. Games don't necessarily "have to go anywhere" they can still get a 10/10 for sequels, and the improvements explained through the written part of the review.

And a 10 is "Masterful" not "Perfect".
